At Keep Our Wildlife Wild, our mission is to promote peaceful coexistence between people and the wild animals that share our communities. The board of Keep Our Wildlife Wild is made up of dedicated individuals united by a shared commitment to protecting Adirondack wildlife and supporting peaceful coexistence between people and animals. With diverse backgrounds in wildlife response, wildlife rescue, education, public safety, and community engagement, our board brings practical experience and deep local knowledge to every decision we make. Together, we are working toward a future where no wild animal has to lose its life simply for being wild.
Don Andrews
is a wildlife photographer in Old Forge, NY. His passion for wildlife goes back decades. While living in the Pacific Northwest, Don spent 25 years photographing the reintroduction of wolves to the western part of the country. He now works and volunteers for the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation monitoring loon activity. Helping to keep wildlife wild, in wild places, is a daily part of his life. Kurt Gardener
Kurt Gardner is a local wildlife and landscape photographer with a deep love for this area and its animals. After seeing too many bears - often cubs -euthanized due to preventable human interactions near his shop, he knew he had to speak up. Now working with our group, Kurt encourages everyone to admire wildlife from a distance and help keep them wild. Kurt is a licensed NYS Wildlife Rehabber and NWCO. Kelly Hunkins
I have lived in the Adirondacks my whole life. Having a rescue
animal in our family for many years now, brought to light how
animals need a voice. I am a huge animal lover and believe that we need to be their voice. I am hoping through education we can keep our wildlife wild.
Michelle Bartlett
Michelle has called the Adirondacks home since 2013. As the owner of Life in the ADK, she combines her passion for the region with her advocacy for animals. Michelle has been a dedicated voice for wildlife protection, most recently playing a key role in efforts to save the animals at Adirondack Wildlife Refige in Lake Placid.
Through her business, storytelling, and community involvement, she remains committed to preserving the natural beauty and integrity of the Adirondacks — and ensuring that its wildlife stays wild.
